Bonhams will present the highly anticipated auction dedicated to the world of fine jewels at Bonhams Hong Kong Jewels and Jadeite sale on 28 May. Leading the sale is an important ruby and diamond ring featuring a rare and exceptional certified Burmese ruby.
The rectangular cushion-shaped mixed-cut Burmese ruby weighs 7.07 carats making it a rarity in size as well as in colour, with one gemological report stating 'pigeons blood red' designation and no enhancement.
The ruby was reset in 2012 into its current mount of 18 karat white and yellow gold set with 8 oval diamonds, all of D colour, VVS1 to VS1 clarity, together weighing 6.01 carats, all certified by the GIA laboratory. The spectacular ring is offered with an estimate of HK$6,800,000-8,800,000.
