In a recent announcement, Natascha Viljoen, CEO of Anglo American Platinum Limited, a 79% owned subsidiary of Anglo American, has decided to leave the group and take up her new role as Chief Operating Officer at US-based mining company, Newmont Corporation, upon completion of her notice period of up to 12 months.
Viljoen has been serving as the CEO of Anglo American’s PGMs business since April 2020 and has been credited for transforming their technical processing capabilities and performance. While she continues to serve as CEO of Anglo American Platinum and as a member of Anglo American’s Group Management Committee until the end of her notice period, the search for her successor is already underway.
Anglo American's Chief Executive, Duncan Wanblad, has acknowledged Viljoen's strong leadership and her contribution to the company's growth over the years. Under her leadership, Anglo American Platinum has become a world-class PGMs business, and her commitment to continue leading the company during the notice period is a testament to her personal qualities.
As Viljoen gears up to join Newmont Corporation, her impressive track record and experience in the industry will prove to be valuable assets to her new role as COO.
