A platinum and gold Cartier "India" tutti frutti necklace sold for $8.7m at Christie's Hong Kong - way above its $4.9m high estimate.It was the highlight of the Magnificent Jewels sale, which realized a total of $61m and achieved a 127 per cent hammer price against pre-sale estimates.
The necklace was made of carved rubies, emeralds and sapphires, round diamonds (0.63 to 0.60 carat, D to E color, VVS2 to VS1 clarity), sapphire, ruby and emeralds beads. It was signed Cartier, with the maker's mark and number.
