The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation have signed a draft agreement granting possession of a plot for setting up the India Jewellery Park’. The park will be established on a 21.3-acre plot of land in Mahape, Navi Mumbai.
The project is aimed at setting up an integrated gem and jewellery industrial park with manufacturing units, commercial areas, residences for industrial workers, and commercial support services.
GJEPC Chairman Vipul Shah speaking at the 49th IGJA in Mumbai sought the Union Commerce and Industry Ministry’s guidance in setting up this park which seeks to transform Indian exports of jewellery in line with that of Turkey or Italy.
