GJEPC seminar unveils opportunities for MSMEs in Jaipur

A seminar on various schemes for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the gems and jewellery sector was held in Jaipur on 18th November 2023. The seminar was organised jointly by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and the National Gems and Jewellery Council of India (NGJCI), and was chaired by Ms. Mercy Epao, Joint Secretary, Ministry of MSME, Government of India.

The seminar aimed to create awareness and educate the members of the gems and jewellery industry about the benefits and procedures of availing MSME schemes. Shri Pradeep Ojha, Joint Director, MSME-DI, Jaipur, gave a presentation on the various schemes, such as the Participation in International Exhibitions (PMS) scheme, the International Cooperation (IC) scheme, the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) scheme, and the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) scheme.

GJEPC Rajasthan Regional Chairman, Shri Nirmal Bardiya, requested the Ministry of MSME to consider increasing the number of exhibitors cap under the PMS scheme from the present 60, reducing the number cap in the IC scheme to help members participate in international exhibitions, and providing more support and incentives to the gems and jewellery sector.

The seminar was supported by the Jewellers Association Jaipur, the Sitapura Gems and Jewellery Industry Association and the Jaipur Jewellery Show. It was attended by more than 170 participants from the industry.
