IIG Celebrates Six Years of Partnership with NJA

Sponsoring “Student of the Year” and Nurturing Global Talent

In a proud continuation of its long-standing commitment to create the next generation of talent, the International Institute of Gemology (IIG) is excited to announce its role as the official education partner for the National Jewellery Awards (NJA) 2024, organized by the Gem and Jewellery Council (GJC).

When IIG first partnered with NJA in 2018, the goal was simple: to help promising talents gain access to the education they deserve. Six years later, that vision has only grown stronger. As a dedicated partner since 2018, IIG has been celebrating young talent through its sponsorship opportunities.

This year, IIG has sponsored 10 bright and talented students by awarding them scholarships worth ₹1,00,000 each. These scholarships grant the winners access to IIG’s top-tier educational programs, providing them with the skills and expertise needed to excel in gemology, jewellery design, and related fields. With a rich legacy and reputation for producing industry leaders, IIG’s initiative aims to nurture the next wave of innovators who will define the future of jewellery.

“Our sponsorship at NJA is more than just about awarding scholarships; it’s about investing in the future of the industry. These students are tomorrow’s leaders, and it’s our responsibility to ensure they receive the best education, resources, and opportunities to succeed. At IIG, we are passionate about empowering young talent to innovate and push the boundaries of what’s possible in jewellery design and craftsmanship.” says Mr. Rahul Desai, CEO and Managing Director of IIG.

Two IIG students, Ami Solanki & Shruti Kangane, were also recognized at the event for their exceptional jewellery designs, winning the coveted NJA design awards. Their success highlights the high caliber of education that IIG provides and the level of creativity and dedication within the institution. For these students, the NJA platform was not just a place of recognition but also an opportunity to step into the limelight of the national jewellery industry.

One of the winners, who is an existing IIG student, shared her experience: “Winning the NJA award and receiving this incredible scholarship from IIG is a dream come true. The knowledge and support I’ve gained at IIG have been life-changing. I’m excited about what lies ahead, and I know that this opportunity will help me grow as a designer and professional.”

The National Jewellery Awards, organized by GJC, is recognized as one of the industry’s most prestigious platforms, designed to honor creativity, craftsmanship, and innovation across the gems and jewellery sector. For IIG, this collaboration is not just about awards; it’s a part of their broader mission to empower students globally through innovative, hands-on training programs that align with industry demands.

The scholarships are a tangible expression of this mission designed to ensure that talent, no matter where it comes from, has access to world-class education and the right support network to flourish.

“We believe in educating with purpose,” Rahul Desai continued, “and we want to do it the right way; by making sure that students are fully prepared to meet the evolving challenges of the global jewellery market. It’s not just about technical skills; it’s about creativity, ethical practices, and a true passion for the craft.”

IIG’s involvement with NJA also reflects its vision of being a one-stop solution for quality education in gemology and jewellery design on a global scale. With five branches across India and a growing international presence, IIG’s influence extends far beyond its classrooms. The institution’s emphasis on real-world training, innovative curriculum design, and partnerships with global industry leaders ensures that students graduate with the practical skills and creative mindset required to lead in today’s competitive market.
