India's exports of polished diamonds increased month-on-month by 34 per cent in January ’24 as manufacturers re-stocked after a two-month ban on rough purchases.
Overall gross exports were $1.16bn, up from $862m in December, according to new figures from the GJEPC (Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council).
There are clear signs of recovery, although January exports remain almost 20 per cent below those of the same month last year ($1.44m).
India's exports were $1.1bn in November 2023, $1.26bn in October and $1.67bn in September.
The principal rules were initially published in the Gazette of India and were last amended through notification number G.S.R 881(E) dated December 6, 2023.
