Direct flights between Surat and Dubai would further boost trade between the manufacturing and trading hubs, says Ahmed Bin Sulayem, chairman of the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE).
Bin Sulayem who is also executive chairman and CEO of DMCC, said during a roadshow in India that there was a clear business case for direct flights.
He's calling on the government-owned budget airline Flydubai to introduce a service and enhance existing ties."I am pushing Flydubai, and I'll push harder even to have a direct flight to Surat because I see the business case for it," he told the Indian TV station CNBC-TV18.
He said DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Center), home to the DDE, had 3,700 Indian companies, many from the diamond sector.
