Indian passengers can take an unlimited amount of bonafide gold jewellery to the UK, according to the baggage import/export rules of the Ministry of External Affairs. However, UK customs and import duties may apply. Passengers should declare all items they intend to bring into the UK and may request an export certificate at the time of their departure from India. If individuals do not plan to bring back the ornaments within three years, an export certificate may not be necessary. UK personal allowance rules apply, allowing passengers to bring in goods worth up to £390 without incurring taxes and duties. Passengers must declare each item they intend to take to the UK and do so at least five days before arrival. Rough diamonds are banned goods.
